Spring Hill Children’s Center is a new preschool and kindergarten initiative that serves the children and families of the greater Monadnock region. Tucked into the hills surrounding Keene, NH, our beautiful campus offers a rich environment for children ages 3-6 to explore the natural world and all its wonders. We are a Waldorf-inspired and Nature-based program. We are seeking teachers and staff who will facilitate curricula based out of a deep respect and understanding of children’s social, emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and cognitive development. Free play, meaningful work, story, song, rhythm, imagination, and connection to the natural world are central to the program. Through this rich variety of activities Spring Hill aims to nourish the whole child, allowing the development of deep trust in themselves, care for others, a wonder-filled connection to nature, and a love of learning.


Summer Camp Lead Teacher

  • This position runs from July 8- August 16th and requires a minimum of 9 ECE credits or an associates degree.

  • Full six week curriculum already designed and ready to use!


Afternoon Teacher Position

Primary responsibilities for Early Childhood teachers include, but are not limited to: care of the children, implementing the philosophy and policies of Spring Hill, creating a classroom culture of inclusivity and joy, complying with NH child-care licensing requirements, and communicating with staff and parents.

Details

  • Spring Hill is a state licensed non-profit preschool that operates five days a week from 8:00am-3:00pm, including half-day, full-day, and extended days. We follow a school year calendar and will offer summer camp during July and August. 

  • Three mixed-age classrooms, with a 3 Day, 4, Day and 5 Day class

Principle Activities:

  • Provide curriculum that engages in age appropriate activities and that promotes a positive learning experience. Collaborate with staff on the implementation of  the rhythm of the day, curriculum and all day-to-day activities.

  • Ensure that all written materials including, but not limited to: attendance records, injury reports, email updates, end of year reports and other written communications are completed in a timely manner.

  • Maintain appropriate positive behavior when interacting with children, parents/caregivers, and staff.

  • Ensure that high quality programming and care for students is consistently being provided.

  • Ensure overall cleanliness and safety of the classrooms (indoor and outdoor) during hours of operation. Assist with daily cleaning, organization, and tidiness of both indoor and outdoor classroom spaces.

  • Complete required yearly training hours for continuing education in the field of Early Childhood Education. Some professional development money available.

  • Attend all staff meetings and staff training.

  • Must have knowledge and experience in, but not limited to, the field of Early Childhood Education, and/or Waldorf Education, and/or Nature-Based Education.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, kindly, and warmly with all children, parents, caregivers, staff members, and supervisory staff (Director, Spring Hill Board of Directors, etc.).

  • Must demonstrate well-developed classroom/group management skills and have strong knowledge of appropriate child development for children ages 3 years – 6+ years.

  • Must be willing, prepared, and able to be outdoors with children in all kinds of weather.

  • Must be able to collaborate with other educators to ensure high quality programming in the following areas: curriculum, language, development, culture and safety.

  • Must have a friendly, caring, gentle demeanor and enjoy working with children indoors and outside.

  • Must be willing to obtain First Aid, CPR and water safety upon hire.

  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds at once.

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate $15- $17hr depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements:

General Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Minimum 9 ECE credits or a Para II Certification

*To meet Lead Teacher qualifications as stated in the New Hampshire Licensing Rules, you must meet the general requirements listed about, have a minimum of 1,000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program and meet one of the following:

1. College courses totaling 18 credits in child development, early childhood or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children, with three credits in child growth and development; or

2. Documentation on of a non-expired Child Development Associates (CDA) credential in center based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition; or

3. A credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE); or

4. Documentation on file with the department that she or he was qualified for and employed in the position of lead teacher on or before the effective date of these rules in 2017.

*To meet Associate Teacher qualifications as stated in the New Hampshire Licensing Rules, you must meet the general requirements listed above have at least one of the following:

1. Nine college credits in child development, early childhood, or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children, including at least one three credit course in child growth and development

2. A minimum of 1,500 hours of supervised experience in a licensed program or public or private elementary school with recommendation from the center director plus documentation of at least three credits in child development, early childhood or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children, and a written plan for completion of an additional six credits earned within a year of employment

3. A minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed program and documentation of successful completion of a two-year vocational child care course 

4. Current certification as Paraeducator II by the New Hampshire Department of Education

5. Written documentation on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as an associate teacher on or before the effective date of these rules in 2017
