Preschool Program Director
Spring Hill Children’s Center is seeking a Preschool Program Director with interest, training, and experience in Waldorf early education, Nature-based preschool, and/or Forest Kindergarten. The Director will be responsible for guiding all aspects of the early childhood program, including but not limited to: overseeing day-to-day operations, hiring and supporting staff, managing enrollment, billing, and financial operations, and maintaining a safe and enriching program environment. This is a part-time, year-round position with competitive compensation and generous time off.
Spring Hill Children’s Center is a new preschool and kindergarten initiative that will serve the children and families of the greater Monadnock region. Tucked into the hills surrounding Keene, NH, our beautiful campus offers a rich environment for children ages 3-6 to explore the natural world and all its wonders. We are a Waldorf-inspired and Nature-based program. We are seeking teachers and staff who will facilitate curricula based out of a deep respect and understanding of children’s social, emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and cognitive development. Free play, meaningful work, story, song, rhythm, imagination, and connection to the natural world are central to the program. Through this rich variety of activities Spring Hill aims to nourish the whole child, allowing the development of deep trust in themselves, care for others, a wonder-filled connection to nature, and a love of learning.

Spring Hill is a state licensed non-profit preschool that operates five days a week from 8:00am-3:00pm. We follow a school year calendar and will offer summer camps beginning in 2022.
Compensation:
This is a year round, part-time, salaried position. Potential for full time after the first year. Or combination teacher/director position for the right candidate.
Start Date: July 1st or asap.
Hours: Monday- Friday 7:45am-1:30pm plus special events during the school year.
Work hours are flexible, but the Program Director must be on site 2/3rds of open hours (5.75hrs), including pick-up or drop-off and to support teaching staff as needed.
Compensation commensurate with experience
Director is expected to be on-site every open day during the school year, or find a qualified substitute.
Salary is calculated based on an estimated 223 on-site days/ year (180 school days plus 43 additional). Vacation and flex time may be taken during school breaks and during the 6 weeks of time off in the summer while the summer assistant director oversees the summer program.
(Program director and summer assistant director positions may be combined if desired).

Requirements:
Successful candidates will have a degree in the fields of education or child development with five or more years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education, Waldorf Education, Environmental Education, Ed Administration or another related field. Must be Center Director qualified in accordance with the NH Code of Administrative Rules ( please read: http://www.nhes.nh.gov/elmi/products/licertocc/documents/ccpcdir.pdf). Master’s degree or current teaching certificate in the state of New Hampshire preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all children, parents, caregivers, staff members, donors, board members and community members.
Must demonstrate well-developed management skills and have strong knowledge of appropriate child development for children ages 3 - 6 years.
Must be able to collaborate with other educators to ensure high quality programming in the following areas: curriculum, safety, equity and inclusion, family support, special education, and child development.
Must have previous experience or proven abilities in administrative responsibilities such as budgeting, supervision of staff, and organizational development.
Must complete 18 hours of professional development training per calendar year.
Must have, or be willing to obtain within the first twelve months of employment, Early Childhood Administrator credential from the NH Early Childhood Professional Development System
Must be certified in First Aid, CPR and water safety.
Must have a friendly, warm, caring demeanor and enjoy working with children.
Must be able to lift fifty pounds.
Principle Activities:
Maintain welcoming, appropriate, positive leadership behavior when interacting with children, parents/caregivers, and staff.
Supervise and ensure that a safe, enriching environment for children is consistently provided.
Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff as required by law.
Hire and supervise staff to ensure that high quality programming and care for students is being provided.
Ensure that all policies and procedures set forth are being implemented in the areas of, but not limited to: health and safety, state regulated guidelines, and curriculum implementation.
Ensure that all written materials including, but not limited to, the parent handbook, attendance records, time sheets, injury reports, observation records, fire drills, CACFP reports, weekly email updates, and monthly newsletters, are up to date and completed in a timely manner.
Develop and work within a budget, ensuring all registration fees, tuition deposits, tuition payments, salaries, fundraisers, receipts from supplies and food are maintained. Purchase and revenue records are maintained and balanced as needed.
Manage and oversee the financial operations of Spring Hill, with the support of the Spring Hill Board and accountant. In coordination with the Spring Hill board, create yearly budget proposals based on enrollment growth and development activity.
Work with Spring Hill development committee and board to pursue funding opportunities, grants, donations, fundraisers, and annual giving.
Implement effective marketing, advertising and outreach for Spring Hill Children’s Center, with the assistance of the Communication/Marketing committee of the board.
Maintain student enrollment as well as evaluations, assessments, and referrals.
Supervise, evaluate, and collaborate with teachers to support their continual growth and development as educators.
Lead staff meetings. Develop and maintain a staff handbook.
Attend Spring Hill board meetings as well as relevant committee meetings.
Utilize Spring Hill’s Google account to reference the Spring Hill’s Google calendar and share events.
Act as an ambassador for Spring Hill by greeting visitors and sharing the organization’s mission.
